Anne owns a gift shop in her local town of Dronfield. She is married to Andy (a member and past President of the Rotary Club of Dronfield), has two daughters, Catherine (25) and Claire (23) and a grandson, Sam (born July 2009). She is a founder member of the Rotary Club of Drone Valley, has served as Foundation Officer, Chair of International Services Committee and Treasurer. She will be club President in 2011-2012.
Anne enjoys yoga and pilates, gardening, going to the theatre and cinema (although she doesn't get there as often as she'd like), listening to all kinds of music, going to art and photography exhibitions, cooking and entertaining. She and Andy attend regular wine tasting evenings at their local wine merchants and enjoy learning about wines and wine making and tasting wines from around the world. Since becoming a gran she has rediscovered her knitting skills. Anne has been fortunate enough to travel widely, and has visited Australia, Bolivia, Hawaii, Japan, Taiwan and the USA. She loves learning about places, people and their history and is looking forward to getting to know Kentucky.
Anne is vegetarian and doesn't eat meat or fish, but does eat eggs and dairy products (cheese, yoghurt, milk etc).
Wish list for the trip:
- To take regular yoga classes if possible (maybe on the vocational days?). At home I go to a variety of classes practicing different styles of yoga and enjoy learning by experiencing different teachers and methods. I also regularly go to Les Mills International “Body Flow” classes which are taught worldwide in gyms and health clubs.
- To visit cultural exhibitions or galleries (art, photography).
- To visit gardens and parks.
- To find out about winemaking in Kentucky.
